The Art of Shoe Making

Perry Ercolino is a third-generation artisan. His grandfather was a leatherworker from Italy, and Ercolino learned his craft in his father’s workshop. He describes his father as both a caretaker and mentor who taught him shoemaking methods, attention to customer service, and the value of a hard day’s work. At the age of eighteen, Ercolino was a man with a vision and it included custom made shoes. Having mastered his father’s trade, he took over the family business in the 1980s and continues to run it to this day. He enjoys the tradition of the craft, and the incredible amount of work and determination that goes into making each shoe a “timeless piece of art.” Enjoy the film.
