Hailing from Montreal, BeN by Jeremy Wallace marries a heritage of entrepreneurial spirit with a deep respect for the craft of tailoring. A traveling tailor service in his native city and a recent New York City transplant, Jeremy named the line in homage of his paternal grandfather. “My grandfather was always well dressed, no matter the occasion. He knew the importance of being presentable. He also grew up in a time where every man would wear a suit.” That had a significant impact on Jeremy. He knew he wanted to go into business for himself, like his father and grandfather before him, but he also needed a way to make his own mark.
“My grandfather was always well dressed, no matter the occasion. He knew the importance of being presentable. He also grew up in a time where every man would wear a suit.”
“Business is personal”, offers Wallace. “There’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing someone fully satisfied with their order because they know what that garment will do for them. Maybe it’s the ticket to making a great impression on an interview or on a date but it’s important to them and that makes it important to me.” With offerings from the best heritage mills in the world, including Scabal, Holland & Sherry, and Vitale Barberis Canonico, BeN connects a classic silhouette with a luxury standard.
“I would say my style is effortless but carefully curated. I’m always reminded of that Hardy Amies quote: ‘A man should look as if he’s bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgotten all about them.’ That’s what I try to achieve personally and to impart to my clients.”
And as business continues to grow, he’s always looking to maximize his potential. “My grandfather taught me the importance of hard work and how you could have anything you wanted in life if you worked for it.” These values spur the brand, right down to the ‘Make it Happen’ embossed on his notebook. It’s a constant reminder that excuses aren’t allowed and a reason to provide ‘only the best’.
